The Pagemaster

The Pagemaster for the SNES is a 1994 action-adventure side-scroller where you play as Richard Tyler, who is pulled into the animated world of the Pagemaster library. To escape, he must navigate through levels based on different literary genres like Horror, Fantasy, and Adventure, defeating enemies and solving puzzles along the way. The game features classic side-scrolling platforming mechanics, along with unique items and attacks like magic dust, gooey eyeballs, and swords, and involves collecting power-ups and finding hidden library cards.
